The Orange Tree Theatre played host to the Richmond Young Writers’ awards ceremony, which celebrated the excellent writing of young people in the Borough.
There were over 360 entrants to the competition and we are pleased that of our many children who entered from St. Mary’s three were nominated in 2 categories. These children and their parents enjoyed the performances of their writing by young actors, who really brought their poems and narratives to life.
In the Year 4 and under category Pippi was Highly Commended and Oscar achieved second place.
In the Years 5 to 6 category Camilla came first and was appointed ArtsRichmond Junior Laureate. This is a wonderful achievement and means that she will be invited to attend various literary events across the Borough and may be asked to review or record some of these events.
We are very proud of them and all the other St. Mary’s pupils who entered the competition.
