At St Mary’s we deliver a creative, engaging and challenging curriculum that encourages curiosity whilst progressively building skills (working scientifically), knowledge and understanding on previously learnt content – pupils will know more, remember more and do more. Every lesson involves a practical element, developing skills, knowledge and a fascination with science. Investigation write-ups progress in depth, language and scientific understanding as pupils get older; as pupils move up the school, they are given further opportunities to design and carry out their own investigations. There is a strong focus and expectation to use precise scientific language as we strive for academic excellence. St Mary’s strives to fill pupils with curiosity and wonder about their world, and delight when they have the opportunity to investigate, explore and create. We learn the skills of explanation, prediction and analysis, hoping that the future scientists, doctors, nurses and Nobel Prize winners start here.
