A team of 8 children from year 2 participated in their 5th Richmond Borough Battle of the Books held at Queen’s CE primary school where they spent the day battling against 11 other schools. The group has worked very hard both at home and at school since the beginning of the year studying the 5 books.
During the competition they had to answer quiz questions on all the books, create a collage to represent one of the stories and then create, improvise and perform a short drama on one of the books. Apart from knowing the books really well, everything they did had to be done on the day.
The team worked incredibly well and were rewarded by a first place in the Art section and achieved an excellent 2nd place in the overall competition. Well done to all in the team especially as Mrs Turner was away in France with year 6. A special thank you to Mrs Benton for stepping in on the day, and also to the parents for their invaluable support.
