At St. Mary’s our PTA goes further than just raising funds, we want to make a positive contribution to our school community, encouraging activities that create a healthy and vibrant association with our school.
The St. Mary’s School Saturday Morning Football is a friendly and fun kids football session run entirely by St. Mary’s parents who give up their Saturday morning to coach. To find out more please contact your FoSM Chair and look out for posts on Classlist.
The St. Mary’s School Eco-Group was formed to raise the profile of environmental awareness and conservation across St Mary’s school community. There are three main focusses to this group:
- Improve and create green space
- Reduce waste, reuse resources and recycle
- Reduce travel pollution and carbon footprint
Over the last few years parents have worked with the school and FoSM to improve the grounds of our school with projects such as: raised planter beds, a “biodiversity corridor”, bulb planting and the Junior Site pond upgrade. Our “Greener School Fairs” initiative has reduced the impact to the environment by eliminating single use plastic and significantly reducing non-recyclable waste at these events. We also strive as a parent community to reduce car pollution, raising awareness of the impact this has on climate change and our health. These environmental projects have all been initiated by the motivation and passion of parents in our FoSM community who are keen to make a positive difference to the environment.
