Tuesday started once again with pleasant conditions: crisp but invigorating . Despite the cold realisation (literally) of the morning swim, a good group continue to brave it – including the class teachers. The run passed the canal path to the beach today; an opportunity to take in more of Bude whilst on the go.
Breakfast included bacon and the coffee machine was now working (yay!).
Still full of energy and enthusiasm, the groups set off for their morning activities. Some headed to the canal to kayak or canoe, while others head for the beach to surf.
A good portion of children and adults experienced the canal water close up as they plunged in falling from their vessels – some by accident, some at the hands of instructors having some fun fir themselves. The dry room is now decorated with pungent socks and shoes still festering in canal water.
Despite the challenge for many in controlling their kayak or canoe, everyone got the hand of it in the end.
A chicken pasta bake lunch accompanied by salad and bread certainly refuelled the troops, all still bouncing, ready for the afternoon’s exertions. Whilst some groups had their turn in the canal or surfing, others tried their luck at mountain boarding with surprising success. (For accuracy, only two suffered injuries of note whilst hurtling down the hill; Mrs Zawada and Mrs Caspersz continue to be monitored for signs of concussion.)
As you can see from the photos, the early morning clouds soon evaporated under the September sun producing yet another picture-perfect day.
All now fed with another hearty meal – apple crumble and custard today – the children ready themselves for fancy dress this evening.
