As so the last evening of fun at Adventure Bude. Everyone convened in the large marquee for Final Presentation night. Each group met with their instructor for the week and shared their highlights and reflected on how much they had grown, overcome fears, tried new things and developed as a team member.
Then the festivities began with games and races in groups, from solving puzzles to tieing up other instructors.
After the races were done, it was time for Just Dance. Parents, I’m sure you are all familiar with Just Dance but I promise you there is nothing quite so funny as doing it with 85 children and 20 adults. It was hilarious watching Mrs Power being piggy backed across the dance floor by one of our house captains – they didn’t know that was in the job spec!
Three awards were then presented – shortlisted by instructors and finalised by St Mary’s staff. Two named Jokers: being endless bundles of fun and laughter all week. Two named Bottlers: those who really overcame their fears showing immense courage. Two named Superstars: just being all round great people. Here are our winners (Bottlers with head bands, Superstars with capes and Jokers with big pants on).
Finally, the award for best group, decided by a points score for effort, energy and performance in activities as tidy bedrooms.
And so the evening ended, as all those before, with Mr Cadman’s bedtime story – always long and drawn out, occasionally humorous and rarely thought-provoking. Tonight was part two of last night’s story about three squirrels; who would have thought it would be Brian who saved the day!
We aim to be on the coach home tomorrow at 9.30am and pray for a traffic free Friday.
One final blog tomorrow when in transit.
