I woke this morning bright and early ready for my daily ritual of morning yoga followed by facial exfoliation and moisturising (just kidding; I checked BBC sport whilst in bed). However, after a few moments, something struck me – a strange sound that parents may never have heard: silence. The sound of tired, sleeping children whose Tuesday had both entertained and exhausted. Good news for all. No early risers!
A peak at the window suggested the sun had yet to rise but on closer inspection, it was in fact the darkest and bleakest day of the week. Fortunately, in a desperate attempt to remain drier for longer, we cancelled the morning run and swim, replacing it for 20 minutes of Just Dance. There’s something quite unusual about dancing with 100 people at 8am to Gangnam Style. I suggest everyone tries this at least once – add it to the bucket list. I’d say it’s like Marmite.
Breakfast was pastries. Some children balanced out their pan au chocolat with some Coco Pops – good to know they understand how to have a balanced diet.
Then, it was go, go, go. Activities: surfing, mountain boarding, high ropes, climbing. The morning was VERY windy and EXTREMELY wet.
After the morning activities, everyone flooded (almost literally) into the centre and proceeded to fill the dry room with dripping clothes. But, the best cure for the damp turns out to be a jacket potato – yum.
Posiedon’s wrath, however, weakened and the wind calmed and the rain disappeared resulting in a much easier afternoon for all.
Dry, smiling and happy, everyone freshened up before a pizza dinner followed by a chocolate shortcake.
Now, the children are happily playing (that’s what they do best isn’t it) with friends forging memories of a lifetime before tonight’s talent show. And, Apollo has shown his face, finally gracing us with a beautiful Bude sunset.
