It’s 10.15pm and I’m sat on the floor of a corridor at our home for the week still hearing the excited shrieks of our Year 6 adventurers who ‘promised’ they would settle down and fall soundly asleep – we’ll see…

The day started at 9am. Everyone was on time! There’s a first – well done parents. Coaches had also arrived on time and off we zoomed to the mind-numbing chorus of 100 bottlesof beer on the wall – singing scars of which some of us still have from the Year 5  trip last year. Four hours in, the songs endured, the travel sickness pills proved not effective for all but, pleasingly, everyone was in good spirits and our lunch stop welcomed us: Exeter services. We even got lucky and found a break in the rain.

Another two hours of winding through the beautiful Devon and Cornish countryside and we finally arrived to huge cheers of excitement and relief – we made it!

Our centre leaders greeted us with enthusiasm. Children were informed of their eight groups for the week and, easily the most exciting news of the week, their room allocations. Fear not parents/carers, everyone was happy.

5pm was dinner: BBQ roast chicken followed by sponge cake and a birthday cake for Eva who turned 11 today.

The evening was…well, fun-filled – something for everyone: five-a-side football outside, karaoke, films or chill out.

It’s now 10.35pm. The occasional shrieks are less frequent but not completely gone. It’s time for lights out. Tomorrow we start out activities. We can’t wait. Good night all.
