Breakfast digested – as much as hashbrowns ever can be – the groups headed off for their morning activities as the crisp morning warmed to a comforting temperature that brought flashbacks of the glorious summer just enjoyed – a last grasp to those days perhaps before autumn sets in.
On today’s menu of activities was the high ropes, where children were challenged to overcome their fear of heights, work as a team and position their bodies at angles God had never imagined.
There was also rock climbing: again a test of courage as children and adults looked down from up high, but also a test of strength and focus in navigating the grips and overhangs in their path.
Then there was Team Trail where groups really were pressed to problem solve as a team.
Lastly, body boarding. For many a first time. The most challenging part undoubtedly getting the wetsuits on. Standing in those waves in the glistening water, there wasn’t a child or adult without smiles beaming across their faces. Forgetting the thrill of riding on a wave, there is something deeply spiritual about being in the ocean and gliding along waves of energy that have travelled thousands of miles in nature’s deep blue – it was magical.
Sun-kissed and tired, it was time for showers and relaxing before a roast chicken dinner followed by toffee cake.
Dinners down, bring on the 5-a-side football competition and karaoke. Being a timid bunch, there were no takers for the karaoke – just kidding! The stage was on fire with modern hits alongside some old classics. The highlight had to be Mr Harvey’s rendition of ‘It’s Raining Men’ accompanied by the Harvettes.
Busily typing away on his phone for this blog, Mr Cadman aimed to have dodged this karaoke bullet but, alas, the teachers had other ideas….
Good night all. Tomorrow promises to be fun and more fun.
