This half term’s Key Question for Year 6 has been ‘Where will my journey take me?’ For the chimichangas, the answer is from the Amazon rainforest then over the Andean mountains but after that, their future is unclear. For our Class of ’22, the same applies; what is important is they are prepared – as best as one can be – for all the mountains and valleys that lie ahead. We hope St Mary’s, alongside supportive, loving homes, have enabled this.
This half term’s class novel for Year 6 has been Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’. In the story, Kensuke lives alone on an island except for the wildlife around him. He named one of the orangutans ‘Tomodachi’, which, in Japanese, translates to ‘friend’. This time in France has been about many things: adventure, culture, history, but nothing more so than friendship.
When our young adventurers look back on this time, what will stick in their memories most is the time spent with their friends – best friends, forever.
Whilst three classes organise the Class of ’22, friendships and memories bridge the groups and will do forever.
We are currently close to English shores once again on our ferry; this time, on schedule – phew!
This will be the final post on this blog, which will remain in place until the end of the summer holidays. Thank you for reading.
Signing off 🙂
